The Coward.

This poem was inspired by a traumatic experience when I was physically attacked in my own home by my nephew, my sister's son. He managed to convince everyone that I had provoked the attack, which was a complete lie. This led me to write this poem to expose his cowardice.

The Coward.

The coward of the county, who is my sister's son, I used to take him everywhere; it was always exciting and fun.

Ever since he was born, I considered him as one of my own.

Then, one horrible night, I opened the door to a frightening sight. I let him in and turned my back, unprepared for the vicious attack.

He took me from behind and began hitting my back, preventing me from getting up and giving him a smack.

Then I saw the coward sprint out the door, leaving me behind all bloody and sore.

He broke my rib and bruised my head, seeking medical attention, lying in a hospital bed.

It's okay now; I can live with the past, but it's just a reminder that memories last.

Why.

This poem came about after the death of my grandfather. It was the first time in my life that I felt pain after losing something I loved, so I put pen to paper and came up with this.

                   Why.

Why is something you love taken above.

Why are we left, left in sorrow,

Why is it the same tomorrow.?

Why do we forgive but not forget,

Why do we regret.

Why do we remember the good times that have been shared,

Why do we remember every word.

Why do we look towards the light,

Why do we cry in bed alone at night.

I don't know why, but we get the answers from the sky.

Another love.

Another love.

Why did my baby die,

Why did she have to go and make me cry?

Another love, a sweet delight, another lonely evening tonight.

Another loss, another pain, another picture that I will frame.

Another experience, another end, another sadness that I can't pretend.

Another year passes by; I get through the days by getting high. I struggle to cope, and I pray and hope that it never happens to you. 🌷

How it all began. (main page)
